Als \u00f6ffentliche Einrichtung ist die Universit\u00e4tsbibliothek Mannheim zu politischer Neutralit\u00e4t verpflichtet \u2013 aber keineswegs gleichg\u00fcltig gegen\u00fcber politischen Entwicklungen. Deshalb schlie\u00dfen wir uns dem Statement<\/strong><\/a> der Universit\u00e4t Mannheim vom 25. Januar 2024 an.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Universit\u00e4tsbibliothek Mannheim ist ein Ort, an dem Vielfalt<\/strong> gelebt wird. Jeder Mensch, unabh\u00e4ngig von Herkunft, Religion, Identit\u00e4t, sexueller Orientierung oder Alter, ist in unserer Bibliothek willkommen. Diese Vielfalt wollen wir auch in Zukunft f\u00f6rdern und weiterhin R\u00e4ume f\u00fcr einen respektvollen Dialog und ein vielf\u00e4ltiges Miteinander schaffen und bewahren. Als wissenschaftliche Bibliothek setzen wir uns zudem f\u00fcr einen freien und offenen Zugang zu Informationen und Wissen ein und lehnen jegliche Art von Extremismus und Desinformation ab. Die zunehmende Radikalisierung unserer Gesellschaft gef\u00e4hrdet auch die Grundlage unseres Wissenschafts\u00adsystems. Wir sind besorgt \u00fcber die extremistischen Entwicklungen in Teilen unserer Gesellschaft und unterst\u00fctzen b\u00fcrgerschaft\u00adliches Engagement f\u00fcr unsere Demokratie, wie es derzeit in zahlreichen Demonstrationen in ganz Deutschland zum Ausdruck kommt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a public institution, Mannheim University Library is committed to political neutrality \u2013 but is by no means uncaring to political developments. We therefore endorse the statement<\/strong><\/a> issued by the University of Mannheim on 25 January 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mannheim University Library is a place where diversity<\/strong> is embraced. Everyone is welcome in our library, regardless of origin, religion, identity, sexual orientation or age. We want to continue to promote this diversity in the future and continue to create and maintain spaces for respectful dialogue and diverse interaction. As an academic library, we are also committed to free and open access to information and knowledge and reject all forms of extremism and disinformation. The increasing radicalisation of our society also threatens the basis of our academic system. We are concerned about the extremist developments in parts of our society and support civic engagement for our democracy, as is currently being expressed in numerous demonstrations throughout Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
