Wie können wir Forschende der Universität Mannheim künftig besser bei der externen Wissenschaftskommunikation unterstützen?
Die Universitätsbibliothek Mannheim führt derzeit eine Bedarfsanalyse durch. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Frage, welche Unterstützungsbedarfe Forschende der Universität Mannheim im Bereich externer Wissenschaftskommunikation haben und welche Rolle wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken dabei einnehmen können. Die Umfrage richtet sich explizit an alle Wissenschaftler*innen der Universität Mannheim.
Unter externer Wissenschaftskommunikation verstehen wir Aktivitäten, die wissenschaftliche Inhalte an außerwissenschaftliche Öffentlichkeiten vermitteln oder den Dialog zwischen Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft fördern. Dazu zählen neben klassischen Veröffentlichungen zum Beispiel öffentliche Vorträge, Interviews und Beiträge in traditionellen Medien, Social-Media-Aktivitäten, Blogs, Podcasts, Veranstaltungen und Ausstellungen.
Die Ergebnisse der Umfrage helfen uns dabei, bestehende Angebote weiterzuentwickeln und zukünftige Services der Universitätsbibliothek Mannheim noch besser an den Bedarfen der Forschenden auszurichten. Die Teilnahme ist freiwillig und anonym. Die Bearbeitung dauert ca. 8–10 Minuten. Die Umfrage ist bis einschließlich 17. Juli 2026 geöffnet.

Survey: Support Needs in Science Communication
How can we better support researchers at the University of Mannheim in communicating their research beyond academia?
Mannheim University Library is currently conducting a needs assessment. The survey focuses on the question of what kinds of support researchers at the University of Mannheim require in the area of external science communication and what role academic libraries can play in this context. The survey is specifically aimed at all researchers at the University of Mannheim.
In this survey, external science communication refers to activities that communicate scholarly content to audiences outside academia or promote dialogue between science and society. In addition to traditional publications, this includes, for example, public lectures, interviews and articles in traditional media, social media activities, blogs, podcasts, events, and exhibitions.
The results of the survey will help us further develop existing services and align future services of Mannheim University Library more closely with the needs of researchers. Participation is voluntary and anonymous. Completing the survey will take approximately 8–10 minutes. The survey is open until 17 July 2026.
